Has anyone seen the statements made in the Canon Corporate Philosophy web
page (http://www.canon.co.jp/Philosophy)? I saw this and thought it to be
rather unique and applicable to this topic in context of being good care
givers, etc.

Here is an exerpt:
" The cornerstone of Canon's operations is the ideal summed up in the word
kyosei; living and working together for the common good".
Later they say:
"The path to achieving kyosei is not a smooth one in a world afflicted by
three major imbalances. Not only are their imbalances in the industrial
world, but there is a disturbing income gap between the industrialized
nations and developing economies. Still another imbalance lies in the
deteriorating quality of the evironment that one generation leaves to the
next".
I'll refer you to their page to see what they are doing about these
imbalances. Make sure you check out the R&D section that states that they
will do no military research because it would be inconsistent with their
efforts to build international understanding and they will do no research
that harms the environment.
