Replying to LO7801 --

Guido Thys asks --

With respect to commitment in general, and more specifically commitment to
change processes, is there a fundamental or essential difference between
different levels of management and the workfloor? And if so, is this a
difference in TYPE of commitment (e.g. mgt commitment goes deeper, or
whatever), or a difference in SCOPE (the commitment is related to
different types of actions or behaviour)?
-- end of quote --

Relevant data in this month's Harvard Business Review a) The highest level
of cycnicism is among the front-line workers, b) 45% of front-line workers
distrust management, and c) 45% of front-line workers distrust the union.
Good news is 96% -- astounding -- trust their direct supervisor. I think
this is analogous to the thinking that says 'education is not very good,
but the schools my kids attend are fine.' What you know is never as bad as
the stories you hear about those things of which you have no direct
experience.
