The Software Engineering Institute developed the Capability Maturity Model
[sm] for Software (http://www.aw.com/cseng/authors/cmusei/cmm/cmm.html),
which is intended to be used as a guide in improving the software
development capability of an organization. More recent work has addressed
developing similar models for imnproving two key factors that are upstream
to the software development processes -- the Systems Engineering CMM [sm]
and the People CMM [sm].
The People CMM has been described by some as a means of addressing and
improving the human resources of an organization while en route to
becoming a learning organization.
The People Capability Maturity Model [sm] is now described on two World
Wide Web pages on the SEI's WWW server (http://www.sei.cmu.edu). The P-CMM
[sm] is decribed at:
