Was wondering about effective methods for dealing with problem people
within organizations. Had a recent episode where a colleague proceeded to
blow up at me, and I think I handled it well. Got an immediate sit down
with colleague and direct manager in closed office, wherein said colleague
continued to shout angrily and verbally harrass while I stayed calm and
collected. This only made him more agitated and he crossed over a line
that made my direct manager send him home for the day. Of course I feel
like this may not be over, but I feel like I am in better standing. Said
colleague called in "sick" the next day, further strengthing my case. I am
comfortable for the moment, but wonder how others on this list handle
Problem People in their organizations?
