Cindy wanted comments on this great idea

These people as she say are the hubs - or rather I would describe them as
the great networkers and "link agents". Every organisation has these
people, but generally since all their effort in helping others do their
job, may in fact mean they give less attention to their own - a factor
often not sufficinetly recongised in organisation reward schemes.
However, if you want to map this properly, you might consider rather than
doing as an ad-hoc informal excercise, to do it as a proper structured
investiagtion. There is a tool (originally developed in Autralia) callled
NetMap that shows you all the connects that people make in a diagramatic
manner. You start with a questionnaire asking them who they go to for
different types of information, and by colour coding the links for
differet types, some interesting patterns emerge - most of which tell you
that the formal organisation has been completely misdesigned!!
