>Another interesting observation in the music world. For years, the three
>tenors competed with each other and struggled for market. Then they
>hit on the teamwork and systems thinking concept and The Three
>Tenors was born as an enormous commercial success.

>In a promotion of his collection in a recent CD, Placido Domingo is
>touted as one of the three tenors! How's that for coming full circle!

Keith, the three tenors is a very old marketing concept, raised to new
levels of hype by television. Think, for example, of the Harlem
Globetrotters as 3 tenor software, the Sinatra rat pack as 3 tenor high
concept, and United Artists (Chaplin/Pickford/Fairbanks) as 3 tenor
business arrangement...

In a world where Domingo has become an "artistic director" and his
performance venue is the compact disc, how else would you describe him?

>The LA Colliseum event did more for music appreciation than most
>recent general education programs...

Not many of the 3 tenor fans know much about opera, although *all* opera
buffs know about the 3 tenors - and many other fine tenors, who
unfortunately will now have to wait until the marketing thread is
completely unraveled before they will get their due...
