Jack, I didn't take your comment as you've clarified it because I
don't think it's a big organisational issue. When such people are
discovered in an organisation, they should be fired immediately.

The basis is not that they *are* evil but that a corporation has to
make economic choices about development. In most cases where the
assessment is approaching evil, then I'd assume that an assessment of
development needs would be "too great".

Without looking to see exactly what I said, what I would say even to
the worst cases mentioned - and I've worked with quite a few of them
myself - is "people take the actions which make the most sense to
them at the time of making the action". (I find this a useful
interpretation even when they "know" that what they are doing is
wrong and experience conflicting thoughts and emotions.)
