This is a follow-up note to Sandy Kettle's contribution about a deductive
approach to the LO.
I advocate an integrated framework using both deductive and inductive
approaches. A deductive approach focuses on the LO as a vision or ideal
organizational archetype. An inductive approach focuses on existing
learning processes.
Your example of deduction is interesting since you don't start with the
ideal or desired behavior but the behavior to be altered or eliminated.
Sort of a root, causal analysis. I would think that a deductive approach
would first spell out the behaviors you want to practice.
