I'm not sure that this is relevant, but one thing I learned about
copywriting sales letters is to write to the reader that wants to and
will read the sales letters and not write to the reader that is likely
to throw out the sales letter when they are opening their mail over a
garbage can.

This basically means "write the sales letter as long as it takes to get
the job done - part of the job being to motivate the reader into buying
the product or service" [I'm qualifying this with _part_ because there's
other dimensions involved in making a transaction win/win].
