I think organizational learning practitioners that use these types of
metaphors are able to build a precise internal representation of an
organizational system which they then translate into external reality to
get results in "the real world".

BTW One of the founders of this beer company start-up in Boston would
find prospective taverns/pubs/restaurants to host their beer by mentally
doing a "fly-through" through the streets of Boston.
