Now you've hit a hot button of mine- "communication" (my undergrad
degree is in human communication).
Those of you using the "telecommunications" model of human
communication- you are not seeing the dynamic complexity (almost
_everyone_ uses this as the model of human communication). Humans _don't_
pass messages to each other.
Humans create their own meaning by interperting the choices they
attribute to your perceived behavior. You want changed behavior? Then you
have to change beliefs. You have to ask yourself: "What about my behavior
would cause someone to change their beliefs?"
In your quality example (I loved the example, by the way) who would
attribute to the VP his choosing to change his own behavior? Obviously,
nobody would. So why should anyone else change their beliefs?
