Michael talked about the plant manager who set out to save the plant, and
gave that as an example that pursuing vision, mission, and goals is
unnecessary. If Michael is referring to formalized -- almost ritualistic
-- pursuit of Vision, mission and so on, then I agree. On the other hand,
the plant manager is a wonderful example of a person who Had a clear
vision, purpose, and mission in mind, he communicated it thoroughly and
consistently through his actions. Exactly what one would wish for in a
leader.
