After checking this out with Rick, I want to share with (announce to) the
group the publication of QualiTrends: 7 Quality Secrets the Will Change
Your Life by John Woods (me) and James Cortada (my partner on various
projects), publishedy by McGraw-Hill. This is a short paperback (about
100 pages) designed to introduce readers to some basic principles of
quality management. I see the main market for the book being for internal
distribution to employees in companies making the transition to quality
management and learning organizations. It is inexpensive and an easy read
for anyone. Granted that it is not in depth on any subject, but it gets
people started thinking. It serves as a taking-off point for getting into
many ideas. It even includes an annotated bibliography of 21 more books
that take the ideas we have covered into more depth. The introduction is
titled "You, Systems, and Quality: It All Goes Together" and the systems
view forms the foundation for what follows in the book. It also includes
Quality Readiness Checklists for each chapter, boxed examples, and a
chapter "Moving Your Personal Quality Plan Ahead."

Why am I telling you all this? If you happen to be looking for a book you
can distribute in your company to people at any or all levels about issues
that are important to all of us, I would be happy to hear from you (e-mail
me directly). I will e-mail you the table of contents and preface. If
the book looks like something you might be able to use after reading that
material, let me know, and I will do my best to send you a sample copy
along with ordering information.

I know this is a bit of self promotion, but I do it in the spirit of
bringing something to your attention that you might be able to use.
