Dave asks about why the second law of thermodynamics does not appear to
work correctly in the case of evolving organisms.
I'm a bit rusty, and someone may have a better answer, but I believe the
second law states that in the absence of an input of energy, things tend
to fall apart (my paraphrae -- Newton said it better). The energy source
for evolution is ultimately sunlight.
