Dear LO list members,

Help with the topic below would be appreciated.
-----------

Edward de Bono suggests in several books that thinking clubs could be a
way to practise your thinking skills on an ongoing basis, once you have
taken a course or class in Lateral Thinking.

The Creativity Consortium was formed in Toronto in 1993 for such a
purpose.

We now hold monthly meetings (last Wednesday of the month) at various
locations including the Toronto New Business Development Center ( a small
business incubator) and starting this month at the Royal Bank - Business
Banking Center in downtown Toronto.

Along with practising our Lateral thinking skills using Cort or the 6
Hats, we have invited guest speakers to discuss/review research or
applications in the field.

Our speaker lineup so far for 1996

Jan 31, 1996 - Walter Derzko
Designing innovation...the general managment principles and
cybernetics of innovation
or turning any workplace into a creative powerhouse

Other speaker booked for the Spring of 1986 include:

-Dr. Mathew Kiernan, author of "Get Innovative or get Dead"
-Michael Abson, president SWATCH Canada
-Dr. Gareth Morgan, prof York University and author (Images of
Organization, Imaginization and Creative Organization Theory and other
books on creativity) will talk about management methaphors.

and to be confirmed ....The former president of the Toronto Argos and
Prudential Insurance...and now the interim president of the Design
Exchange.. ... lateral thinking fan....Ron Barbaro

We have had about 200 individuals attend over the past three years with an
average attendence of 30-50 individuals. In 1993-94 we held quarterly
meetings and now we plan to hold them monthly. Most who attend are former
students of mine or people who have attended a MICA session from de Bono.
We charge from $10-$25 per event and we are now looking at some sort of
membership structure.

----------

My question to the list is:

Are there any other viable thinking clubs around the world ?
Have any companies or organizations to teach Lateral thinking (or 6 Hats)
inhouse organized any followup practise activities, such as thinking
clubs ?
How are you organized?
What successes have you had ?
What events have worked for you?
How do you advertise ?
What other support to you get ?
What is your financial structure ?
If you started a club in the past and it lost momentum, what were the
causes ?
Would anyone like to trade ideas ?

Thanks in advance.
