Adding to the discussion in LO4588 on the subject of Flat Orgs &
Learning

We are in the midst and have completed a lot of organization
flattening. What happens, although, is that new reporting
relations are developed but the same jobs exist. Jobs, jobs
everywhere; narowly defined jobs, unique specialties. We attempt to
consolidate to remove duplicated efforts but fail to adequately plan
transition. This results in people protecting their responsibilities and
boundaries which does not enhance learning.

I am enamored by the topic of job-free workplaces raised in earlier
LO postings. Do these workplaces allow for easier transition
in organizations? Is learning enhanced where work is not finitely
partitioned? Do any of you have experience with this concept? I would be
interested in sharing ideas.
