This is echoed further in THE ART OF THE LONG VIEW by Peter Schwartz (who
worked in the scenario planning group at Shell and now is a partner at
Global Business Network which, in turn is involved with WIRED magazine)
and even in Howard Rheingold's books on the digital 'revolution' (VIRTUAL
COMMUNITY, etc.) where he describes case studies of computer mediated
communication systems (bulletin boards, computer conferenceing, etc.)
where the most heavily used and most useful aspects were the email and/or
chat features.

Good strategic planning involves creating a shared vision and surfacing
our mental models, which is a conversation process. Scenario planning etc.
are only as good as the conversations they facilitate.
