Yes, Tufte's book is good. However it ignores completely structural
graphics. Structural graphics are those which portray (when most
significant) complex logical patterns of relationships. Structural graphics
are like Venn diagrams in some respects, but they are much more general, much
more visible (when there are lots of things being related), and they are the
formal replacement for ad hoc engineering graphics. It's too bad that
engineers don't know this.
