Jim, this was a great message. I saw a bumper sticker here in the Miami
area which says "We don't own nature. We belong to it." This also
captures some of the notions conveyed in your post. I kind of feel
somewhat relieved when I see that natural fires or some other natural
phenomena destryed a beach, or some other "properties," because I think
that we can learn from thi experiences. Learning that might lead us to
not cause so much harm to our ecological system.
Also there was a short article on the Miami Herald with the title "Why
Whites Don't Riot," or something like that. The article really referred
to the fact that whites in the U.S. power over many things and they can
"riot" by changing laws, processes, etc. that would support whatever they
want. bla ....
