Interventions and Family Therapy models
Dr. Edwin Friedman has done some interesting work in this area - he
published a book, Generation to Generation, that discusses family systems
concepts applied to institutional environments. He is also an
entertaining speaker and has some interesting theories about leadership
sabatoge that are supported by the family systems concepts. We had him as
a guest keynote at one of our top level leadership workshops while I was
at SEMATECH, and he received a standing ovation (not a small deal from a
group of high level high techers). His teaching style is unique - he uses
Fables to convey concepts, and has also published a book - Friedman's
Fables (Guilford Press) - that contain stories that are good dialogue
catalysts for team development activities. Also available on audio tape.
