Doug, I don't know if anyone has suggested this, but the Five Why's
exercise that Peter Scholtes uses and then Rick Ross develops in the Fifth
Discipline Fieldbook is probably a good way to begin.

We set up the Fieldbook itself more or less to answer exactly your
question, and so we have a "way-into-the-mix" series of exercises
beginning on page 97. I imagine some subset of this could be brought down
into 2 days.

Rick Karash participated in creating that progression of material.
