Interesting posting. I like the mathematical flavour to your exposition of
rule-based behaviour.

Isn't this acting like a "chameleon"?
Two issues that I think are relevant to this discussion are:
It is necessary to know how to change one's beliefs and assume other sets
of beliefs to be abpe to treat everyone differently.
It's advantageous to ask "What is it doing for us to treat this person
this way?" or "What is it doing for us to act like a chameleon?" If a
planned behaviour doesn't support our goal, whatever it is, we do other
things.
