Michael McMaster referred to the process Lily mentioned as "radial
listening", thank you, I never knew what this process was called, though I
ran across it in counseling skills classes in graduate school. I think it
was Lily who added a piece in this process that was new for me and feels
powerful.
What stood out for me in the thread was the last piece of the "radial
listening" process, "...is that what you intended?". It strikes me that
this last question provides a doorway to some new possibilities. Opening
the conversation to both my different levels of reactions to someone and
back to their intial intentions feels like seeds of deeper learning for
both of us.
