Replying to LO2733 --

It is my gut level feeling that LO is not a fad but the real thing. I say
this because my understanding of Senge's ideas about the LO are systemic
and not reductionistic. The days of the Newtonian, mechanistic models, are
over and the more wholistic and systemic models are emerging from quantum
physics, to health, to psychotherapy, to organizational theory.

The understanding that interrelatedness and interdependence are core
concepts is here to stay. The thought that Taylor and his time studies and
Mr. Ford's assembly line with its interchangable parts as being the soul
of business are over. We are beginning to understand the ramifications
that phenomena have on the universe. Polluting the air is a cost of doing
business and sooner or later somebody will pay whether the manufacturer,
the people downstream, the national taxpayer or the people of planet earth
as the ozone depletes, the polar caps melt and Water World becomes a
reality.

The LO is no fad and will not go away. The question is what will it evolve
into next?
