sound? I too am working on real projects that are "rational
projects". I seldom express something that I hasn't produced real
results in the real world for me and my clients.
It may be the general assumption of rationality that is at fault.
The need for it, the description of what it consists of and the
belief that only one "rationality" will lead to the desired result.
The process involves getting the socalled "negative" commitments up
*and honouring them* rather than trying to avoid them. I have never
yet been on a team where only the "positive" were present. Some of
the best players have their own agendas which - at times - conflict
with the overall objectives. These are to be recognised rather than
resisted.
Once they're in the open and valid subjects for conversation, they
lose their destructive power and often serve to illuminate something
positive. The approach which you ask for is not complex. I call the
approach "doing it". That is, ask for them, talk about them and
allow them to be.
