Adding to LO2437 -- was Researching "Wicked Problems"

[...Subject line changed by your host. KCBY had stated it as "Wicked
problems: IBIS, QuestMap and LO/Groupware Panel", but that's too long...]

>I have not seen it mentioned yet but Rittel developed a method called
>Issue-Based Information System (IBIS) to provide a formal structure for
>discussion of wicked problems. A groupware product called CM/1 is
>available that manages IBIS in a network environment. For anyone
>interested, CM/1 was developed by Corporate Memory Systems in Austin,
>Texas (512-795-9999).

Corporate Memory Systems has just released a new version of this
product, now named QuestMap. Their current phone number in Austin
is 512-918-8000. Faxes may be sent to 512-918-9600. [I don't work
for CMS, but I did work for several years with one of the founders, Jeff
Conklin, while he did the research that lead to QuestMap. So I'm not
a completely disinterested party :-) ]

Jeff Conklin made use of QuestMap to capture the discussion during a
very interesting panel at Groupware 95 in San Jose on Friday, 18 Aug.
The topic of the panel was "Which Comes First, Groupware or the
Learning Organization".

Also on the panel were:
Peter and Trudy Johnson-Lenz (the organizers), Awakening Technologies
Frank Lancione, PRC, Inc
Carol Anne Ogdin, Deep Woods Technologies
Rick Karash, Innovation Associates

If there is sufficient interest, I might clean up my notes from the
discussion and make them available by email. And we might see about
getting the output from QuestMap as well.

BTW, I _did_ get to meet our host, Rick, F2F!! :-)
