Thanks for the great definition of "philosophy" from Ortega y Gasset.
Have you heard the definition given by Alfred North Whitehead as a
sequence of footnotes to Plato? I am quoting directly from the 1984
edition of Flew's DICTIONARY OF PHILOSOPHY, page viii:
"A. N. Whitehead once remarked with no more exaggeration and distortion
than is inevitable in any such epigram, that later philosophy has
consisted in a series of footnotes to Plato."
