I'm not part of a "learning organization." I'm discovering that many of
the things that I suggest to members of the organization are greeted with
much skepticism and I suspect it's because no one has been in an
organization that really works in these ways. In fact, the notions are
regarded as tending towards impossible and idealistic. It seems so few
people have experienced these alternatives. So how can we begin to shape
ourselves into what most of us don't acknowledge as possible? Are there
learning orgs out there that act somewhat as mentors or give tours, info,
and success stories to would-be companies? How about something similar to
an exchange where a person from the learning org and one from the would-be
org each spend a week at each other's site observing and critiquing? In
fact, if anybody is interested in something like this or has done it
before, please let me know.
