Replying to LO2407 --

Unipart has taken a radical and extraordinarily successful approach
to this. The company has converted the ground floor of their head
office to a "university". The communication is loud and clear.
Besides the investment in the facilities, the positioning leaves no
doubt as to their importance to the corporation.

While Unipart hires a few outsiders to teach, these are generally
special experts and are expected to transfer their knowledge to the
company as fast as possible. The great bulk of programmes are
created and led by employees - managers, professionals and others.
The CEO is one of the regular presenters.

The whole executive is involved in basic curriculam decisions and
anyone with a programme can present. The material available is
everything from "the 10 points" of quality to a specific welding
course.
