You may want to take a look at Ralph Kilmann's work, Beyond the Quick Fix.
It is an excellent model for tracking transformation across all
organizational boundries, formal, informal, structural and psychological.
John Brady and I have written a little piece called the "Greatest Little
Transformation Book You'll Ever Read", that outlines the issues and uses
Prof. Kilmann's model as a guide for stucturing an approach.
Essentially we talk about the ability to get ahead of the transformational
shockwave, and to minimize the kind of trauma that major organizational
change causes. From the hard numbers, to the soft hearts of the people,
the effect is the same, everything and everyone is affected. There is
literally 'no place to hide' when the wave breaks.
