For Ann Woosley and any other interested parties, the literature in
comparative management, cross-cultural management, int'l management
is rich regarding this subject.

You may find the Academy of International Business very helpful.
Their journal, the Journal of International Business Studies
is I believe published at University of Western Ontario.

Nancy J. Adler, author of many articles and of the book International
Dimensions of Organizational Behavior (1991) Kent, is very knowledge-able
on the subject, especially on womens issues in international training for
expatriates.

Also Arvind V. Phatak, author of International Dimensions of Management
(1992) Kent has chapters on this subject.

US firms have a dismal record of expatriate training and performance
compared to European firms. US parochial attitudes are alas widely
commented upon by widely traveled executives and academics.

Geert Hofstede wrote several articles on this. His, "Do
US Management Theories apply abroad" is a classic.

Best Regards and kind whishes for success in you ventures.
