Another problem with "motivation" is that although it can be defined in
various artful ways, it can only be measured with proxy variables. In
other words, as a concept it is a neat tool for discussion. I wonder if
it actually exists or is an aggregation of more fundamental aspects of
psyche and environmental interplay?
