I agree with Phillip Capper's brief discussion of the learning curve
concept. I always argue that concepts such as the learning curve, the
life cycle of products/organizations/etc. are so self-defeating that they
become like self-fulfilling prophecies. The product is going to grow,
mature, and die... and we watch it do so! Innovation and creativity allow
us to revilatize the product/process/organization so that they don't have
to die. The learning curve is as limiting as the efforts "to get the dead
horse to get going again by the application of new riding methods."
