Replying to LO1737 --

My assertions regarding the grow or die imperatives of capitalism have
provoked several demurrals, providing perspectives which appear to
challenge my views.

For example, Peter von Stackelberg said:

"We are now seeking stability in our business by avoiding growth in
complexity. That means limiting the number of employees, the number of
projects, the gross revenue, etc.

I think the paradigm in business needs to shift away from "grow or die" to
"evolve or die". If that paradigm shift does not occur, there will
ultimately be more "die" and less "grow". "

This exactly reflects my own idea of where business needs to go.

...but forgive me if I say that when it does, it is no longer capitalism.
I share Peter's optimism that it is something better, but that remains to
be seen.

My apologies to those who may feel that this has taken our inquiries too
far afield. I am beginning to feel a bit embarrassed about raising this
issue. But I still feel it's important.
