Replying to LO1721 --

Rick Karash gets to go on a road trip! You mean they/we actually let the
guy out sometimes? Unbelievable.

I'm pleased that you lodged your little apology, Rick, as it may have
served to remind some of us that good lists -- and this is a very good one
-- owe a huge debt to their hardworking hosts. As one who has (mostly)
lurked on this list for a few months, I have been enormously impressed by
the quiet, consistent way you have helped us develop the list into a
learning organization in its own right. It's funny how sometimes one can
look at a sculpture or a painting and know -- immediately -- that a good
person created the work in question. I regularly get that feeling when I
stand back from the actual contributions on this list and focus on the
list as a whole.

So, keep it up. It IS important. It IS having an impact on people. It
IS appreciated. Sure, take your road trips, but please make sure you keep
coming back!

Contributors to the debate about whether the list should be partitioned
might care to give consideration to the hosting implications, not just the
content implications. For mine, keep it as is. I am one of those who
need to see and feel the breadth of argument in order to justify the
investment in seeking depth in any particular segment of that argument.
