Replying to Noel Dickover's request for info on participative employee
reviews, LO1544

Noel:

I just last week completed stage one of three as a member of the
performance review committee. In this first stage, we considered our
employee performance appraisal form (non-manager) with an eye toward
making it as usable as possible by all managers and lead people. Each of
about nine categories has a rating scale from 1 to 5. An accompanying
"How to interpret..." booklet I wrote assists all users of the form in
keeping "on the same page" with their definitions of the numbering scheme.

We employ 800 people in this location.

I'd be happy to FAX a copy of the "How to..." pages to you if you'd like
to see how we handle just part of the inquiry you made in your posting
today.
