Observations on Doug Seeley's thoughts: intellectual property in LO.
I am not an academic. I have no financial or tenure stake in being
published. My job does not revolve around synthesis of ideas into new
concepts which I can market (I'm not being crude) for the benefit of other
people.
In this I probably am like some others who subscribe to these dialogs. I
want to state that I am thrilled to my core when I see and "sense" a
response to my words in the thoughts of others. The very basic reaction
of mine is almost childish, doesn't go to the heart of issues, but does do
one very, very important thing: it makes me feel honored by other people
with whom I otherwise have not the slightest connection. There is an
amazement that others honor my thoughts. For this I am humble. I tell
you, this is so covered up in some of our daily communication where we
live and work.
All this to say that I give my heart to these conversations, unabashedly.
My own, very personal take is that forms and shadows of my words become
part of the "tangible" landscape where everyone must live if the planet is
to survive. I know that sounds didactic in a way, but you know what I
mean, some of you.
Listen to presences inside poems.
Let them take you where they will.
Follow those private hints,
and never leave the premises.
