Deming, of course, opposed "incentives" and believed strongly in the joy
of work. Juran has recently said he disagreed with Deming on this point,
and "justified" his disagreement by stating that Deming never worked as a
manager (Juran went on to claim that this lack of experience at least
partially explained Deming's notorious disdain for executives). Is this
another way to define and defend "natural" conservatism as Mike McMaster
has done so eloquently here?
