This should not be a big surprise to any one. In general,
organizations do not hire for any other reason but to perform a task. So,
the only thing we make sure the person knows well is his/her own task. We
do not care too much show employees what their roles in the organization
is. To me, this requires showing them not only the task, but also the
relationships with other tasks and with larger picture; the context.
Organizations that learn manage and support an internal environment
employees can learn, in an effective way, their taskes, the process, and
the context (this is David Fearon and mine contention of supporting the
development of the managerial mind of all employees). We think that this
employees' knowledge of the task, process and context will happen whether
management wants it ir not. Our notion is that management should learn to
recognize this, and then take advantage of it to improve organizational
learning.
