Peter,

We have a simple approach to help people deal with change and have done
numerous workshops for organizations undergoing change. We have found that
using the techniques we teach, Freeze-Frame (R) being the fundamental
tool, people reduce the amount of time they spend in inefficiency and low
productivity. It gets down to the emotional level, which you mentioned in
your piece, and the body's sympathetic stress response.

We do ongoing research to show how people, with a simple technique, can
reduce the amount of time spent in this reponse and actually reverse its
negative physical, mental and emotional effects. It starts by
understanding the role the heart, both the physical and metaphorial heart,
plays in personal effectiveness.

The heart is a very powerful electrical source in your body. Most people
believe that the brain controls the heart. Actually, the heart is its own
source of information. It's electrical signal is 40 to 60 times more
powerful than that of the brain. The internal information highway is a two
way line of communication, the heart sending signals to the brain, as well
as the other way around. Therefore, when people are reacting in a negative
way to a situation, the body, through perception, will go through the
sympathetic stress response. If you can remember ever being in a near
accident you will recall how your heart races, your breathing speeds us,
etc. and you don't have much time to learn anything new or be creative.
You have a narrow focus, "Get me away from here."

You don't need to be in a near accident for your body to go into this
response. We do it all the time when we react to organizational change,
face deadlines, screaming kids, you name it, stress. It affects all we do
and is not the optimum for learning, productivity and personal effectives.
Freeze-Frame is a way for people to stop and intervene. In just a few
moments, you can let your heart lead the way. It clears all lanes on the
internal information highway and allows for wider perspectives, mental
clarity and intuition and creativity.

You've experienced this Freeze-Frame "feeling", I'm sure, when you've been
involved in something you love doing. When you're on, in sync, in the
flow. It's actually got a scientific name, coherence, and we show, in our
research, how anyone can do it with intent with Freeze-Frame.

It's literally change management from the inside out. We call it Inner
Quality Management (R). Let me know if you want to know more.
