This has actually happened with several organizations I've worked with.
In some cases the "partners" broke up, and created organizations (or found
employment) more aligned with their personal missions.

In one memorable case, the "mission" of the organization (that had existed
more than a decade) became "Exit With Dignity." It took them some time to
"dismantle" the organization, but they did it...smoothly, and with a lot
less problems than they had had trying to keep it going!
