Dear fellow LO list members: As part of the `Higher Ed:
Learning Orgs?' discussion spanning HEPROC-L and CQI-L,
Steve Brigham <sbrigham@cni.org> and I <reimann@digex.net>
have formulated four questions. If you would like to
participate, your answers would form a part of both
HEPROC and CQI-L archives <http://www.digimark.net/educ>.

Here is the first question. I'll post the four over
several days. Answer at your leisure. For inclusion in
the CQI-L archive in particular, you need to answer by
April 20 or so.

1. Question one covers the relationship between the higher ed
institution and the outside world. Learning implies correctly
interpreting the external environment. What is the external
environment telling us right now about what higher education
needs to address? What are the "slow trends" affecting higher
education? What are some hypothetical or concrete thumbnail
sketches for addressing them? (One good example of a slow trend
affecting higher education is the demographics of the student
population which has special implications for both academic and
student affairs).

Host's Note:
Replies can be to the learning-org list or to Carl directly, as you wish.

This is the info I was sent about the CQI-L list that Carl mentions: The
server list cqi-l@mr.net is devoted to issues in quality in higher
education (That's CQI-L) This BBS is sponsored by the American Association
for Higher Education. You can inquire as to how to get on it by sending a
note to Steve Brigham (sbrigham@cni.org). Recently Steve has initiated
the practice of posing a question and inviting subscribers to send in
their answers. He then collates them and issues a synopsis of opinions.

When I learned of the current month's query "Higher Ed - LO's??", I
invited Carl to solicit responses from our group.

Where ever you send your reply, Carl will receive it as input for his
synopsis of opinions and this will be posted here on Learning-Org.
