most of the students left to head home. There is no doubt in my mind that
this film evoked a strong emotional response from a wide variety of
students. Whether the strong response can be attributed to the acting,
the script, or the theoretical content is not clear to me. It would seem,
however, to be a perfect piece for setting up a debate/ discussion of the
positions presented in the film."
I believe the strong emotional response you observed is independent of
acting or script, and arose out of the classroom exhange itself. I
believe it would be useful to revisit this setup this semester, ensuring
that there is enough time afterward for a fuller excahnge, perhaps with a
followup at yet a later date and in the context of a particular learning
in your course...
