ADAPT - LEARNING ORGANISATION PROJECT.

Hello - we are seeking Learning Organisation partners in Europe. We are
putting together a project for EU support under the ADAPT Community
Initiative. This Initiative is for the development of human resources
(i.e. people !). The Measures to be supported in Ireland include 'The
Learning Organisation' as part of Managing Change for SMEs. Support will
be given to consortia and we are seeking partners in 2 other member states
of the EU.

Our project involves the introduction of Learning Organisation (5th
Discipline) concepts into a consortia of Irish SMEs. They include
Sheetmetal Fabricators, Injection Moulders and Electronics Assembly
companies. The objective is to help them to adopt these new capabilities
and improve competitiveness. The project will involve networks & workshops
for Managing Directors and in-company instruction & practice in the
component 'Disciplines' of the Learning Organisation (LO). This will be
conducted over a one or two year period. Practitioners involved have
unique expertise and are willing to 'blaze a trail' and help SMEs become
LOs.

Suitable partners could include SMEs, a Training Organisation or
University Dept. with an interest in Learning Organisation ideas or others
who can apply these techniques to build high performance SMEs.

The project will be co-ordinated on behalf of the Irish SME consortia by
the following Learning Organisation Practitioners :

Barry Herriott, B.Sc., M.B.A.
A Science & Business Specialist, he has been associated with HAY-MSL for
15 years as a Human Resource Consultant to major state organisations and
private companies. Creating effective management teams and high
performance organisations is his special expertise.

Mike Nash, B.S.(Chem. Eng.), M.B.A.
An Engineering Graduate of M.I.T. and Master of Business Administration
Graduate of Harvard, he has over 25 years experience in General Manager
positions. He is a leading practitioner of Learning Organisation concepts.

Joe O'Keeffe, B.E., M.I.P.D.
An Electrical Engineer & Graduate of the General Electric (USA) Management
Programme, he has managed subsidiaries of Apple Computer, AT&T and Emerson
Electric. He has unique experience in World Class enterprise development.

We would also enter into 'dialogue' with other EU projects that might help
Irish SMEs to achieve improved performance in some other way. If you know
of suitable partners, please ask them to send me some background details,
on or before 20th March. Best Regards,

Joe O'Keeffe

Host's Note: Joe, what's an SME?

Please send replies direct to Joe, not to the mailing list address. And,
could you let us know about your progress along the way?
