I am a technical advisor in simulation and scheduling at Eastman Kodak
Co. For the last 17 years, I have been involved with system dynamics
modeling among other technologies in the decision science arena.
Before that, I did general industrial engineering work at Kodak. Prior
to that, I was a weapons officer on a nuclear submarine. I graduated
from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an MS in Mgt. Science.

My current interest is in the use of technology in the learning
organization.

I have moderated an electronic open conference at Kodak called "the
systems thinking - learning organization conference" but shut it down
last year. Not many people were contributing. It is interesting to see
the dialog occurring on the learning organization conference here.

Here is my first posting:

PARABLES, PROVERBS, AND METAPHOR:

>From the Bible:

Proverbs 26:7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in
the mouth of fools.

Proverbs 26:9 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is
a parable in the mouth of fools.

One thing seems sure, the use of parables is not for fools. However,
for the wise a parable can be useful for teaching and communicating. It
can be used to peak someone's interest and then as the basis for
expounding the meaning you want to convey as Jesus did with his disciples.
