Your description reminds me of what David Whyte spoke of at Bretton Woods
approximately quoted: The soul would rather fail at living its own life
than succeed at living someone elses. Audio tapes are available of his
readings from BW folks, well worth hearing and re-hearing.

David was speaking of the individual soul, but I wonder if this applies to
the collective soul? [great name for a rock group]
