When to model?

As interna/external consultants, each of us has a number of different
"tools" we can use when responding to a clients' request for help.

My question for the Learning Org list is:
For what types of "requests for help" are System Dynamics
models (e.g., ithink) most appropriate?

I look forward to a discussion re: the criteria for choosing SD models over
other approaches.
