In my scenario class at NYU this summer, I couldn't keep people
from interrupting each other.... the ideas were too fast, and the
participants too eager to get theirs across. So I dashed around the
corner to Star Magic during a break and bought a $5 plastic tube,
filled with glitter and oil. That became our "talking stick", and
only the stick-holder could speak.
After one meeting conducted this way, the stick became superfluous.
We'd retrained ourselves.
