Weaving - Works in Progress

April 2001
On the J-Comp, Tom is weaving a map of the island using rya knots with shots of tabby between the rows of knots. The warp is Alan Whiting's Island Wool.  He is starting with waves that rise, swell and then crash on the shore.

Katherine is working on another  warp, making dish towels and yardage for a vest.  The 36" Mighty Wolf is warped with 20/2 black cotton using a pattern from Davison's A Handweaver's Pattern Book, page 186, overshot Norse kitchen dish towels.

Width on the loom, 25"
Warp length, 20 yards
EPI 30
6 shafts, 10 treadles

Tabby weft will be black 20/2 cotton
Pattern weft will be 10/2 cotton Tubular Spectrum colors from Lunatic Fringe.  She will use a different ordering of the cones for each dish towel. Here are the three orders suggested by Lunatic Fringe.

This is the pattern I'm using.  Let me know if you'd like a copy of the WIF file.

This started out as a 4 shaft pattern, but I've added 8 threads on the edges (threaded on shafts 5 and 6) to give a better selvedge.  Tom figured out how to rework the treadling so that I don't go crazy!  If you want details about the treadling, holler and I'll send them.
