PARMA
MODENA
Parma Bapistry
We will remember the pink marble and the incredible food of Parma.  The previous towns had had the occasional wonderful dish, but it wasn't until Parma that each course of the meal was equally wonderful.
Modena
We took a Sunday day-trip to Modena.  Most of the town was closed, but the Museo Lapidario del Duomo was open.  It is a newly renovated museum and a real treasure.  Lots of interesting textiles and sculpture.  If you go, be sure to rent the headphones for the very well done English explanations of the museum's displays.   These photos are taken around the outside of the Duomo.
Parma market
The produce was gorgeous - lots of varieties of tomatoes and more kinds of grapes than I've ever seen.
Modena Catheral doors
Parma ham
The different prosciutto, the hams of Parma!  We hadn't known that there were vintages to Parmesan cheese until a restuarant served us a selection of 1, 2 and 3 year old cheese.  That was a revelation!
